A honeymoon in Argentine Patagonia, told by people who have welcomed couples since 2014: eleven domes in a lenga forest 15 km from El Chaltén, each with its own wood stove and Fitz Roy in the window. A wood-fired hot tub, four-course dinners, wind outside and no signal at all.

Why Patagonia for a honeymoon
Because it is one of the few places left where you can really be alone. Mountains, forest, wind and nobody else. And because the season here runs from November to April: if you marry in the northern autumn or winter, Patagonia is in full summer.
Within Patagonia, El Chaltén is for couples who want to hike together and come back to something warm at night. Fitz Roy is right there, in sight, all day.

Falling asleep with the fire lit inside the dome
Every dome has its own wood stove. While you are at dinner, we light it: when you come back the dome is warm and you can see the fire through the stove glass.
Outside, often, the Patagonian wind is blowing. You hear it moving through the lengas. Inside: the big bed, the window and the fire.

Waking up facing Fitz Roy
The dome window faces the mountain. On clear mornings the first light hits the granite of Fitz Roy and turns it orange for a few minutes. You can see it from bed.
In December the sun sets after 10 pm: the days are very long and there is time for everything.
The wood-fired hot tub, under the stars
A wooden hot tub heated over a wood fire, in the open air, facing the mountains. Beside it, a cold plunge for the brave. After a day on the trail it is the best spot in the camp, and at night, if the sky is clear, you see the stars with no village lights at all.

The table: a four-course dinner and wine
Stays are full board. A buffet breakfast with Fitz Roy in the window, a full packed lunch to take on the trail and, at night, a four-course dinner in the Dining Dome. You choose your wine from our selection.
Fifteen kilometers from the village, that means nobody has to drive, look for a table or watch the clock.

A honeymoon without phones
There is no signal and no wifi at Eco Domes. We decided it in 2014. For many couples it is the best part of the trip: you talk, read, walk and go to bed early. Each dome has solar power with USB to charge your camera.
Which dome to choose for a honeymoon
Every dome is private, with its own bathroom and forest on either side. For a honeymoon, these are the ones we recommend:
- Deluxe Dome
- 32 m², the most spacious. A big bed, leather armchairs facing the window, sheepskins.
- Premium Wooden Dome
- Two wooden domes across the track, the furthest from the camp, with the whole valley in the window.
- Dome en-suite
- The domes along the row, with a double bed and a Fitz Roy view.
A Patagonia honeymoon itinerary
Ten to twelve days are enough for the essentials of Argentine Patagonia, without rushing:
- Days 1–2
- Buenos Aires, to land and rest after the flight.
- Days 3–4
- El Calafate and the Perito Moreno Glacier.
- Days 5–8
- El Chaltén: three or four nights in the forest at the foot of Fitz Roy. One long hike, one easy day, one spare day for the weather.
- Days 9–12
- Torres del Paine in Chile, crossing from El Calafate; or Ushuaia; or Bariloche and the lakes.
The airport for El Chaltén is El Calafate (FTE), about three hours away on paved roads.
The best month for a honeymoon in Patagonia
We are open from November to April. Each month has its own thing:
- November
- The peaks still white, and fewer people.
- December
- The longest days: the sun sets after 10 pm.
- January and February
- Full summer and the warmest afternoons. Book well ahead.
- March
- The wind eases and the lengas begin to turn.
- April
- The forest turns red. The last month before winter.
